SelfHostSchool is operated by LearnWithHasan. By using the site, signing in, or buying a course, you agree to these terms. They are written to be readable, not to trap you.
Your account
You sign in with a one-shot magic link or with Google or GitHub. Keep access to your email and social accounts secure, because anyone who can read your inbox can sign in as you. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us if you think it has been compromised.
Courses and payments
- Paid courses are billed through Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay.
- When your payment succeeds, you get access to what you bought.
- Access is for you. Do not share, resell, or redistribute course material.
- If something is wrong with your purchase, contact us and we will sort it out in good faith.
Using the guides at your own risk
SelfHostSchool teaches you to run your own infrastructure. Self-hosting means you are the one running servers, handling data, and securing services. Our guides are educational. They are provided as-is, without warranty that they fit your exact setup or that they are complete or current.
Always understand a command before you run it, especially on a production server. Back up your data. You are responsible for what happens on your own machines, including security, downtime, cost, and compliance.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law or help others do so.
- Attack, overload, scrape, or try to break into the site.
- Copy our content and pass it off as your own.
- Abuse accounts, payments, or the sign-in system.
Our content
The guides, tools, course material, and design on SelfHostSchool belong to us or our licensors. You may read them, use them to build your own stack, and share links to them. You may not republish them wholesale or sell them as your own product.
Third-party links and affiliates
Some guides link to outside products, often through branded /go/ short links.
Some of these are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy. It does
not change the price you pay. We link to tools because we use or recommend them, not because
of the commission. Outside sites have their own terms and we are not responsible for them.
No warranty
The site, the guides, and the tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that following a guide will produce a particular result on your hardware.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, LearnWithHasan and SelfHostSchool are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or the guides, including data loss, downtime, or lost profits. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If you keep using SelfHostSchool after a change, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
