Privacy Policy

SelfHostSchool is operated by LearnWithHasan. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We keep it short and we keep it honest. If a section feels vague, that is usually because we are not doing the thing that would require more detail.

What we collect

  • Your email address. When you sign in, we store the email you use so we can send your one-shot magic link and run your account.
  • Social login details. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your basic profile (name, email, avatar) from that provider. We do not get your password.
  • Payment information. If you buy a course, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. We keep a record of what you purchased and your billing status.
  • Usage and analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which guides and tools get used. This involves cookies and aggregated data like pages viewed, rough location, and device type.
  • Server logs. Like any web server, ours records standard request data (IP address, timestamp, user agent) for security and debugging.

How we use it

  • To sign you in and run your account.
  • To deliver courses you have paid for.
  • To send transactional email about your account (sign-in links, purchase receipts, important changes).
  • To understand what content is useful so we can make more of it.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell your data. We do not send marketing email unless you have clearly asked us to.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to run analytics. You can refuse non-essential cookies through the notice shown on the site, and you can clear cookies any time in your browser. Essential cookies (the ones that keep you logged in) are required for the site to work.

Third parties we rely on

We share the minimum data needed with a few trusted providers:

  • Stripe for payments.
  • Google and GitHub for optional social sign-in.
  • Google Analytics for usage statistics.
  • Our email delivery provider for transactional email.

Some guides also link to outside products through branded /go/ short links. Some of those are affiliate links. Following them takes you to a third party with its own privacy policy, which we do not control.

How long we keep it

We keep account and purchase data for as long as you have an account, plus whatever we are required to keep for tax and accounting. Analytics and server logs are kept for a limited period and then rotated out. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize the data we no longer need.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop using it for a given purpose. We will act on reasonable requests within a reasonable time.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use SelfHostSchool after a change means you accept the updated policy.
